Local author Michael W. Barnard will be the special guest reader at Fairfield Public Library?s Goodnight Storytime at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Barnard will read from his newest book ?The Red Tree.?
The 34-page children?s picture book is intended for ages 3-6 years. It is a presentation of the passage of the four seasons as they relate to a specific tree in rural Iowa. Barnard wrote the simple text and took the photographs over several years.
Barnard has worked as an artist and filmmaker for his entire adult life. In the 1970s, he spent seven years making films for Maharishi. Then, for the next 37 years, he started and operated his production company BoltPIX Studios in Hollywood. He came to Fairfield 2.5 years ago to become program director of the David Lynch Graduate School of Cinematic Arts at Maharishi University of Management. His award-winning films and artworks have been exhibited around the world.
?The Red Tree? is Barnard?s second book. He also has had some of his poetry and other writing published over the years.
