Blood drives set at Keosauqua Senoir Center, Pekin High School

KEOSAUQUA ? Van Buren County will host a community blood drive from 3:30-7 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Keosauqua Senior Center.


Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 3 are eligible to give at this drive.

Pekin High School


PACKWOOD ? Pekin High School will host a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 28 in the school?s commons.


Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 3 are eligible to give at this drive.


For appointments to donate, contact member of Pekin High School Student Council or teacher Dawn Black or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 5069 to locate the drive.


 


Donor information


Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age, although a 16-year-old with a parental permission form also can donate. The form is available through www.bloodcenter.org. Donors must weigh more than 110 pounds and have a photo I.D. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure can be accepted as eligible donors.

Officials at the blood center say blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.


Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to more than 90 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin. It is the exclusive provider to Jefferson County Health Center and Van Buren County Hospital.
