Board, union forge tentative agreement

The Fairfield Community School District Board of Directors and the Fairfield Community Education Association (teachers? union) have come to a tentative agreement on a master contract for the 2018-19 school year.

A letter signed by both school superintendent Laurie Noll and the association?s chief negotiator Kristen Septer read, ?Each party advocated successfully for its respective positions. We strongly believe that we ultimately reached a mutual agreement that benefits the teachers and district, and recognizes our collective commitment to the success of our students.?

The association plans to call for a vote to ratify the contract, and later the school board will hold a special meeting to approve it. No details of the contract have been released.

The association submitted a contract proposal to the board on March 21, and on April 4 the board made a counter-offer. Both of those were made publicly.
