The Fairfield boys? golf team got a preview Friday night of Elks Fairview in Keokuk, the course they will play in May at the Southeast Conference tournament, and the Trojans did exceptionally well.
The Trojans shot a combined 172 on the par 35 course, beating host Keokuk by 12 strokes and fellow SEC foe Fort Madison by 20 swings.
?The guys felt really good about winning this triangular,? said Head Coach Mick Flattery.
?We had a lot of personal bests, and 172 is our low for the year as a team. All seven guys shot in the 40?s, and that?s terrific.?
Keokuk?s Jake Cook tied the Trojans Josh Brewington and Aaron Haines for medalist with a round low of 42. Haines had three pars, while Brewington had two pars during his career-best varsity round.
Jeremy Crile and Brad Smithburg each shot a 44, with Crile recording a par during his career-low and Smithburg tallying a birdie and a par during his round.
Jackson Weaton had three pars during his 45 and Drake Rippey had a par during his 48.
Varsity/Junior varsity swingman, Cam Ledger shot a career low 49 for the jv squad.
The Trojans are now 8-9 with their next outing Tuesday at the Oskaloosa Invite.
