The Fairfield girls? basketball team traveled to Monroe Tuesday night where they defeated Prairie City-Monroe 67-53 behind 32 points and four assists from Nicole Buch, including eight three pointers from the senior sharpshooter.

Sophomore Destiny Gridley chipped in three points and senior Ashtyn Drish had four boards to go with her basket.
When asked what would scare him about playing an elimination game right now, Coach Witzenburg said ?Somebody that gets in our grill. Also our defensive rebounding, but, we?re getting better at it. Nothing really scares us. We?re ready. We step up when it?s game time and hopefully we can just keep getting better each day.
The next challenger for the 9-2 Trojans, SEC rival Mount Pleasant, will come to town Friday as girls? assistant coach Meredith Flattery hosts the Green Out event at FHS with the Iowa Donor Network onsite and organ donation awareness highlighted between ballgames.
Fans are encouraged to wear any shade of green to show support for the inaugural event and the girls will tipoff at 6 p.m.
