Cardinal girls score season high behind youth movement

Tuesday night at New London, the Cardinal girls? track and field team scored their highest team total of the season with 69 points.


The Comets young group of leaders were: freshman Kiya Chapin who finished second in the 100M hurdles in 18.84, sophomore Ryleigh Wages who was third in the 400M hurdles in 1:24.54, freshman Maddy McClure who was fourth in the 400M race in 1:10.96 and sophomore Brittney Teno who was fourth in the 800M in 2:55.79.


The team also had a season best in the 4x100 with freshmen Anna Mullikan and Alexia McClure joining sophomores Maddie Cloke and Rachel Lewman to run a 55.39, good for second place.


Fellow freshmen Lizzey Lett and Trista Benedict joined Chapin and Mullikan to finish first in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay in a time of 1:17.68, while two more freshmen, Maddy McClure and Nancy Vass ran the 4x400 with Chapin and Lett in 4:39.39, good for third place, although Head Coach Lindsay Albert said it was a season best effort as the quartet shaved a whopping :07 off of their previous quickest run.


Albert added, ?We?re excited about scoring the most points of the season and we?re ready to get back on the track Friday for our first and only home meet!?
