DANVILLE ? The Cardinal softball team got its head back above .500 with a 16-2, seven-inning rout of Danville Thursday.
The Comets, who improved to 9-8 with the victory, finished the game with a pair of home runs and eight total extra base hits.
Lindsey Davis and Lindsay Moore belted the two dingers for Cardinal. Davis also hit a double and had two runs batted in, and Moore finished 2-for-5, also hitting a double with three RBI.
Morgan Honomichl went 2-for-3 with one triple and a double, and she drove in four runs. Lexi Fullenkamp was 3-for-3 with a double, Jessie McElderry was 2-for-2 with a double and Alexis Adam finished 3-for-5. Carlie Bennett added a pair of base knocks.
From the circle, Fullenkamp logged all seven innings and struck out three. She gave up only one hit and one earned run.
