The Carry-On Bags fundraising raffle was recently held at the Fairfield Hy-Vee Food and Drug Store.
First prize, a twin-size quilt, with a matching pillow, assembled by Kathy Tollenaere, Sue Long and Laurie La Van, was won by Marj Heckenberg.
Proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will be used to purchase food for the COB program.
Carry-On Bags is a nonprofit organization that was formed to address the problem of food insecurity for preschool through 12th-grade students in Jefferson County. COB offers bags with snacks and simple meals that allow children to ?carry on? without school meals over weekends and during school breaks. The bags are offered to all students in the Fairfield Community School District and Maharishi School and are distributed on Fridays and before school breaks to those who are signed up with the program.
This is the fourth year that the COB program has been a part of the community.
Any group that would like to learn more about COB can email Mark Thornton at email@example.com for a representative to come and speak.
