The Cardinal girls? basketball team traveled to Danville Tuesday night for an SEISC matchup, with the Comets falling 66-19 to the Bears.
Comet skipper Jacob Blume said, ?They had a huge run to start the game, and we couldn?t grasp how to break their press.? He continued, ?It was a similar press to [Moravia?s] Saturday, but Danville was a little quicker and we just couldn?t figure out how to fake a pass in order to create some space.?
Even though the Comets sit at 1-5, Coach Blume said the team is ready to get ?back to the grind,? something the first year coach is aware trumps all, hard work.
Sophomore Maddie Cloke had 10 points and three rebounds for Cardinal, while freshmen Lizzey Lett and Alexia McClure combined for the remaining nine points and three boards.
Coach Blume finished by saying, ?I saw some good things later in the game, and was even able to try some players in different spots.?
We?ll see if Coach Blume and his Comets can continue to improve Friday when they travel to SEISC foe Holy Trinity Catholic. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
