Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals
Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.
The menu for the coming week is:
Monday ? loose-meat burger, wheat hamburger bun, tater rounds, tomato slices, broccoli-cauliflower-raisin salad, bananas.
Tuesday ? roast pork loin, au gratin potatoes, lima beans, strawberries and banana.
Wednesday ? Swedish meatballs and gravy, spaghetti with vegetable salad, sliced carrots, ambrosia salad.
Thursday ? chicken cacciatore, sour cream mashed potatoes, roasted brussels sprouts, fresh melon plate, chocolate chip cookie.
July 20 ? spaghetti with meat sauce, spinach salad with dressing, red peach gelatin, vanilla wafer cookies.
Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.
Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.
For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.
Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.
Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.
Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Fairfield school meals
Fairfield Community School District is offering a free summer lunch program to any child age 18 and younger.
The menu includes:
Monday ? cheese filled breadsticks, marinara, rosy applesauce, milk.
Tuesday ? hot dog on a bun or chili dog on a bun, savory carrots, sidekick, milk.
Wednesday ? walking taco, lettuce and cheese, banana, milk.
Thursday ? pancake on a stick, tri patty, peaches, milk.
July 20 ? crispy chicken patty on a bun, corn, fresh fruit, milk.
Any child through age 18 can have a free, healthy lunch; a child does not have to qualify for free lunches during the school year to eat the free summer lunches.
Adults over 18 can purchase a meal for $3.50, but children are served lunch first.
Lunch is served:
? 11:15-11:45 a.m. at the Fairfield Public Library;
? 11:30 a.m. to noon at Pence Elementary School;
? noon to 12:30 p.m. at Maharishi School?s Kids Explore Summer Camp; and
? 12:05-12:35 p.m. at the Roosevelt Community Recreation Center.
Children do not have to eat lunch at the same location each day.
The Fairfield school district?s free summer lunch program continues through Aug. 24.
