Congregate meals, Fairfield school meals: Sept. 1-14, 2018

Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals


Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.


The menu for the coming week is:


Monday ? beef burrito, Chuck Wagon Corn, mixed green lettuce salad with dressing, banana, crispy rice bar.


Tuesday ? baked chicken, cheesy macaroni salad, spinach, fresh melon.


Wednesday ? meatloaf, red-skin potatoes, tomato-cucumber salad, mandarin oranges, pumpkin pie.


Thursday ? salmon patty, lemon wedge, baked potato with sour cream, broccoli-cauliflower-raisin salad, diced peaches.


Sept. 14 ? pork cutlet, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, roasted Brussels sprouts, banana cinnamon oatmeal bar.


Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.


Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.


For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.


Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.


Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.


Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Fairfield school meals


The Fairfield Community School District has announced the menu for the coming week.


Elementary schools:


Monday ? breakfast: breakfast bar. Lunch: cheese pizza, steamed broccoli, side salad with dressing, peaches.


Tuesday ? breakfast: pancake on a stick. Lunch: hot roast beef sub, corn, celery, fancy pears.


Wednesday ? breakfast: muffin and string cheese. Lunch: crispy chicken drumstick, mashed potatoes, carrot sticks, applesauce, homemade roll.


Thursday ? breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: taco snacker, green beans, salsa, fresh fruit.


Friday ? breakfast: breakfast bun. Lunch: cheeseburger on a bun, baked beans, tomato slices, fresh fruit.


Milk, juice and fruit is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.


Middle school:


Monday ? breakfast: breakfast bar. Lunch: cheese pizza or pepperoni pizza, steamed broccoli, peaches.


Tuesday ? breakfast: pancake on a stick. Lunch: French dip or hot turkey sub, corn, fancy pears.


Wednesday ? breakfast: muffin and string cheese. Lunch: crispy chicken drumstick or country-fried pork chop, mashed potatoes, applesauce, homemade roll.


Thursday ? breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: taco snacker or chili cheese max wrap, green beans, fresh fruit.


Friday ? breakfast: breakfast bun. Lunch: cheeseburger on a bun or grilled chicken on a bun, baked beans, fresh fruit.


Milk, juice and fruit are served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. A fresh garden bar, with fresh fruits and vegetables, is served daily with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.


High school:


Monday ? breakfast: ultimate breakfast round. Lunch: cheesy Trojan bread with marinara or chicken Parmesan wrap, green beans, mixed fruit.


Tuesday ? breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: taco snacker or bean and cheese burrito, corn, peaches.


Wednesday ? breakfast: filled crescent roll. Lunch: boneless wing bar with choice of buffalo, Asian or plain wings, California blend vegetables, pears, garlic breadsticks.


Thursday ? breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: meatball sub or BBQ Rib on a bun, French fries, applesauce.


Friday ? breakfast: pancakes. Lunch: orange chicken or sweet Thai chili chicken, steamed broccoli, rice, mandarin oranges and pineapple.


Milk, juice, fruit and a choice of mini doughnuts, Pop Tarts, breakfast bar or breakfast bread is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. Offered daily for lunch is a choice of: fruit and yogurt parfait with granola, sub sandwich, specialty salad, nachos-to-go or Uncrustable PBJ. A fresh garden bar, with romaine salad with a choice of dressings, fresh vegetables and fresh fruit, is available for lunch.
