Democrats must put forth strongest candidate, Ed Malloy

To the editor:

My name is Philip Kern. For the past 26 years, my wife and I have built our business here in Fairfield and the tri-counties.

We are very much in favor of more good jobs, new businesses, and a strong economy. I also, in the past, was a strong Republican, and supported Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan, Bush Sr, and Colin Powell for President.

But I am embarrassed now that I feel the party has been taken over by extremist views and reality show types. People who are almost always angry, self promoting, attention grabbing, and bent on

revenge, people who give $130,000 to adult film stars, and others, for their silence ... people who are supported and advised by Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and the far, far right, who twist and play fast and loose with the truth.

So that is why I am supporting Ed Malloy for State Senate.

The fact that he is strong on business and the environment and has worked successfully with both Republicans and Democrats for over 20 years in government, and is a six-term mayor of Fairfield, tells me all I need to know.

From everything I read see and hear, Mary Stewart is a wonderful person and a fine teacher and able school administrator.

But I feel *very* strongly that the Democratic Party must put forth their strongest candidate, the person who would have the most experience in building a strong economy; and protecting the environment and keeping the wheels of the commerce turning.

I believe Ed Malloy will absolutely will be the very best person to defeat the Republican/Trump Party candidate for the open Iowa State Senate seat.
