The Fairfield boys? basketball team didn?t do 1-12 Davis County any favors Monday night when they visited the Mustangs for a non-conference matchup, and left Bloomfield with a 68-17 confidence boosting victory.
The best part about winning by 51 points? Head Coach Mick Flattery said it was the opportunity to work on several things.
?We got to try a variety of lineups and defenses.?
Flattery added, ?Everyone was able to play, with no one getting more than 15 minutes.?
Statistically, the Trojans were led by junior Tristin Waugh who netted 13 points to go with his three rebounds and steals. Point guard Dante Cingere was second in scoring with 12 points while the senior also made two steals. Other stat lines were: Collin Breen eight points and three assists; Cooper Drish seven points; Mark Diers six points; Austin Simpson five points, eight rebounds and three blocks; Drew Martin four points and three rebounds; Aaron Haines four points and five rebounds; Carson Crile four points and four rebounds; Cole Engle three points and five steals on his birthday; Landon Kooiker four rebounds and four assists.
The boys are now 6-8 overall with seven games remaining: at Iowa City Liberty Friday, versus Albia Jan. 29, at Centerville Jan. 30, versus Keokuk Feb. 2, versus Chariton Feb. 6, at Fort Madison Feb. 9 and at Knoxville Feb. 15.
