Fairfield?s JV wrestling team traveled to Wapello last Friday for a large tournament style event.
Here are the results.
In bracket 2, Brecken Courtright finished third and Cohyn Roach finished fourth. Courtright lost a 7-2 decision in his match and was pinned in his second match, before beating Roach 4-3 by decision in his final bout.
Roach was pinned in his first match, won a 3-0 decision in his middle match, and then fell to Courtright 4-3 by decision in his last match.
In bracket 3, Tommy Jones finished fourth after being pinned in all three of his matches, earning two points for the team.
In bracket 4, Jonah Cooper placed second and Dagan Burnett finished third for the Trojans.
Cooper won his first two matches, including a fall against his teammate Burnett 2:46 into the middle match. Jonah lost his championship match, getting pinned 1:23 into the final by Christopher Ewart of Wapello.
Besides falling to Cooper in his second match, Burnett fell to Ewart in his first challenge, before rebounding with a 10-6 decision to capture third place over Fort Madison?s Dawson Hunt.
In bracket 5, Jacob Bland finished third after defeating his first opponent 10-0 in a major decision, before falling to both Zack Woeckener of Camanche and Matthew Gillaspie of Louisa-Muscatine.
In bracket 11, Blake Metz won his first two matches by fall over Wylie Jacobs of Louisa-Muscatine and Brogan Carolan of Highland, respectively, before receiving a bye versus West Burlington?s Bryce Sankus.
In bracket 12, Peyton Cline finished second after pinning Nick Thoms of Camanche in his first match, followed by a fall to Abe Wilson of Mt. Pleasant in match two and a bye to Mitchell Trexel of West Burlington in his final match.
In bracket 13, Nickel Iseman finished third after pinning Keokuk?s Isaac Cook in :40 in round one, before falling to Mai Hoang of Mt. Pleasant with one second remaining in the second period of round two. Iseman was then pinned in his final match by Robert Loveless of the Columbus Community/Winfield-Mt. Union conglomeration.
In bracket 17, Caleb Heisel had the performance of the day. In his first match, Caleb pinned Davenport West?s Sebastian Hernandez in just 0:09. In match No. 2, Heisel won a 4-2 decision against Bryce Angle of Burlington. The last match of his day ended with another pin, this time in 0:48 versus Austin Haas of Fort Madison.
In bracket 7, Toby Oliver finished fourth, losing two decisions and receiving a fall in his final match.
In bracket 8, Blaine Silvers finished fourth, falling in his first two matches before battling to a tough 9-6 loss by decision in his final match.
In bracket 9, Logan Adam fell in his three matches, scoring two points for Fairfield.
In brackets 10, 16 and 22, respectively, Brody Angstead, Arya Patel and Aidan Pohren each went 0-3 with fourth place finishes, however each still earned two points for their team.
In bracket 20, Wyatt Baker scored six points for the Trojans by receiving a first-round bye in the first round before being pinned by Nash Garlow of Burlington in his second match, and Logan Bass of Mt. Pleasant in his final match.
