Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals


Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.


The menu for the coming week is:


Monday ? scalloped chicken, brown sugar-glazed carrots, mixed green lettuce salad with dressing, peaches and bananas.


Tuesday ? braised liver and onions, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, lima beans, angel food cake, strawberries.


Wednesday ? cook?s choice with dessert.


Thursday ? baked chicken, sweet potatoes, crispy-creamy spinach, pineapple crisp.


April 13 ? barbecued pulled roast pork, wheat hamburger bun, O?Brien potatoes, green peas, mandarin oranges.


Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.


Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.


For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.


Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.


Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.


Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Fairfield Community School District has listed its lunch menu for the coming week.


Preschools:


Monday ? breakfast: yogurt with graham snacks. Lunch: beef fiestada, Mexicali beans, peaches, milk.


Tuesday ? breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: pizza crunchers with marinara, apricots, milk.


Wednesday ? breakfast: pumpkin bread. Lunch: chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, rosy applesauce, milk.


Thursday ? breakfast: apple bosco stick. Lunch: orange chicken, green beans, rice, fresh fruit, milk.


Friday ? breakfast: backpackers with string cheese. Lunch: sloppy joe on bun, french fries, fresh fruit, milk.


Elementary schools:


Monday ? breakfast: yogurt with graham snacks. Lunch: beef fiestada, Mexicali beans, salsa, peaches, milk.


Tuesday ? breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: pizza crunchers with marinara, steamed broccoli, raisins, milk.

Wednesday ? breakfast: pumpkin bread. Lunch: chicken tenders or turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, homemade roll, rosy applesauce, milk, fresh garden bar.


Thursday ? breakfast: apple bosco stick. Lunch: orange chicken or egg roll, green beans, rice, fresh fruit, milk, fresh garden bar.


Friday ? breakfast: backpackers with string cheese. Lunch: sloppy joe on bun or barbecued chicken on bun, french fries, fresh fruit, milk, fresh garden bar.

Tuesday ? breakfast: biscuits and gravy. Lunch: Tasty Traditions: breaded mozzarella cheese sticks with marinara. Cultural Cuisine: burrito with salsa. Sides: green beans, applesauce, milk.


Wednesday ? breakfast: cream cheese-filled bagel. Lunch: The Bar ? boneless wings with garlic toast. Sides ? honey-glazed carrots, pears, milk.


Thursday ? breakfast: biscuits and gravy. Lunch: Tasty Traditions ? hot dog on a bun or chilidog on a bun. The Grill ? brat on a bun. Sides ? baked beans, craisins, cookie, milk.


Friday ? breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: Tasty Traditions: waffles with egg omelet. Cultural Cuisine: egg and cheese biscuit. Sides: tri-patty, frozen fruit cup, milk.
