Fairfield travels to No. 1 Solon

Five Fairfield seniors will stare down Goliath in their final football game Friday night when the Trojans travel to 8-0 No. 1 Solon.

Head Coach Matt Jones says that the team has to play hard for their seniors.

?We are going to have to be at our best in every phase,? said Jones. ?We will have to run the ball effectively and when we get opportunities in the passing game, we have to convert.?

Jones added, ?Defensively, we need to shed blockers, sprint to the ball and tackle well. We have struggled as a defense at times giving up big plays, but we can not allow the ball to go over our heads in the secondary, and we must get pressure on the QB.?

Statistical notes: Junior tailback Tristin Waugh had 56 carries for 288 yards through the Trojans first six games. He has rushed 88 times for 517 yards in the last two games versus Fort Madison and Mt. Pleasant, and is now just 195 yards shy of 1,000 for the season. Junior QB Carson Crile is also just shy of 1,000 passing yards for 2017, needing only 101 yards to reach the mark.
