Fairfield wrestling competes at Ottumwa Invitational

Fairfield wrestled against 11 other schools Saturday at the Ottumwa Invitational, finishing 10th overall with 113.5 points.


106 pounds, fr. Cohyn Roach-Summers(8-13) went 1-2 before pinning Des Moines East?s Benjamin Diaz 0:29 into the fifth place match.


113 pounds. so. Jonah Cooper(10-11) went 2-1 before losing 8-6 in the third place match against Luther Evans from Kirksville.


120 pounds, senior Gannon Courtright(11-10) went 0-2 before pinning Augustus Renfro from Pleasantville 0:46 into the third period of the fifth place match.


126 pounds, junior Mason Allen(13-10) went 1-2 before pinning Albia senior Michael Thomas at the end of the first period of the third place match for a 2:00 fall.


132 pounds, sophomore Stetson Spees(6-8) went 2-2 before pinning Keokuk freshman Levi Boudewyn 1:55 into the first period of the seventh place match.


138 pounds, senior Zach Barnes(12-10) went 1-3 before his opponent was disqualified in the seventh place match.


145 pounds, senior Saban Simons(7-17) went 0-2 in pool matches before rebounding to go 2-1 in the consolation pool finishing 10th place.


152 pounds, freshman Peyton Cline(7-14) went 2-2 before falling to Ottumwa?s Tyler McCoy in the fifth place match.


160 pounds, sophomore Caleb Heisel(12-9) went 0-2 in pool matches and then went 2-1 in the consolation pool for 11th place.


170 pounds, junior Carter Spalla(9-13) went 2-1 before losing a 6-4 decision in the fifth place match.


195 pounds. freshman Aidan Pohren(5-12) went 1-4 on the day including a pin 1:28 into his final match to finish 11th place.


285 pounds, senior Brendon Lunsford(19-2) went 4-0 including two pins, a 6-2 decision and a major decision in the final for the tournament title at 285.
