Great minds thinking alike is going to benefit the Fairfield community school district?s activities department and the hundreds of students who participate in it?s programs each year thanks to a new partnership between FHS and the Fairfield Jet Stop.
Principal Brian Stone and Activities Director Jeff Courtright were creating mock-ups to approach local gas stations with, in hopes of finding a community partner after seeing a similar relationship in Ottumwa between OHS and a station there, but before they could finish their proposal, they were approached by Jet Stop.
Owner Larry Bentler is a FHS graduate and known supporter of Trojan athletics, but this is not just money for the football and basketball teams.
?On the pump it says ?activities? because FHS takes great pride in providing a variety of opportunities for their students,? explained Stone who added, ?It will be a great program for all of the students and we hope it gets heavy use.?
Stone said that some stipulations do apply of course, but in general it will be used to provide better facilities and equipment and it can be used in a wide varitety of areas.
The principal also wanted to thank Jet Stop for thinking ahead of the curve and involving FHS with this beneficial program.
The signs are posted on pumps No. 1 and No. 2, the two pumps that the donations will be pulled from.
