OTTUMWA ? Farmers and producers wanting to learn more about new techniques and programs available to improve soil health, conservation and water quality are invited to attend a free program Wednesday at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa.
The one-day conference begins at 9:30 a.m. and will feature a nationally acclaimed soil health expert and a panel of farmers from across southeast Iowa that will talk about their own positive and negative experiences with cover crops and conservation practices.
A breakout session is planned on how using conservation practices can promote diversifying an operation with livestock to better help build soil health.
The program is scheduled to adjourn at 2:30 p.m.
The free program includes lunch, so registrations are required for an accurate lunch count. To reserve a seat, contact the Wapello County Soil and Water Conservation District at 641-682-0752.
This program is sponsored by SWCD, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Iowa Corn Growers and County Farm Bureau.
