Gary Steven Rich, a longtime resident of Fairfield, passed away at 4:04 am on September 11 after a long battle with lymphoma.
Gary, born Feb 18,1944 in Syracuse, NY was a beloved member of his community and a deeply loving Father. He was a kind, caring and loyal friend. In life as in his death, he showed a calm fearlessness, strength of moral character, and clear sense of right and wrong that was admirable and inspiring.
Over the course of his life, Gary was a teacher of Transcendental Meditation and skilled carpenter and craftsman. He loved to work with his hands, had a life-long love of learning and possessed a uniquely perceptive mind and open heart.
He was a support to many, both in his local community and his extended spiritual groups. He loved to travel and spoke fondly of his adventures in Mexico where he lived closely with a family and studied the local language and culture.
Gary always felt at home in his garden and was deeply connected to nature. He was a seeker of truth both in solitude and community. He had a lively sense of our relation to, and support from Mother Nature in all things.
He is survived by his children, Lucia Rich Khosrowpour and Shane Rich, granddaughter Aya Khosrowpour, sister Joni Webb and brothers Bruce and David Rich and by his beloved partner, Susan Wilson.
A memorial and Vedic ceremony will be held on Friday, September 14, 2pm, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
