Habitat for Humanity seeks partner family

The Greater Fairfield Area Habitat for Humanity is accepting housing applications through May 15.

The Homeowner Selection Committee chooses a partner family based on the family?s level of need, willingness to become partners in the program, and ability to repay the no-interest loan. The applicants must have lived in the Jefferson County for the last six months.

When a family helps build a place they can call home, they are also building a better community and a better life for themselves.

Through volunteer labor, donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity builds and renovates simple and decent houses with the help of prospective homeowner. Habitat houses are financed with affordable mortgages and sold to the homeowner at no interest. Mortgage length varies from seven to 20 years. The house cost is kept low by using locally available materials and volunteer labor. The homeowner monthly mortgage payments go into a revolving fund that is used to build more houses.
