Holidays bring special hours, closures

Many offices and businesses will have special hours for the Christmas and New Year?s holidays.


 


Christmas holiday


Fairfield city offices will close at noon Friday. The offices will be closed Monday, then reopen Tuesday.


Jefferson County offices will be closed Monday.


Waste Management will not collect trash Monday. The collection will be delayed by one day.


Fairfield Park and Recreation Department?s Roosevelt Community Recreation Center, including the indoor pool and Cambridge SportsPlex, will be closed Monday.


Fairfield Public Library will be closing at noon Friday. It will be open 1-5 p.m. Saturday, then closed Sunday and Monday.


Fairfield Community School District will be dismissing at 2:30 p.m. Friday for its winter break. School will resume Jan. 2.


Pekin Community School District will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. Thursday for its winter break. Students will return to class Jan. 4.


Cardinal Community School District will dismiss at 1:15 p.m. Thursday for its Christmas break. Classes resume Jan. 3.


Van Buren Community School District will dismiss two hours early Thursday. Classes resume Jan. 3.


No congregate meals will be served Monday or Tuesday at the Fairfield or Lockridge senior centers. Contact the center about meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals.


Post offices nationwide will be closed Sunday. Blue collection boxes are not serviced on Sundays and that will be the case on Sunday. Regular collections will be made Saturday. The Christmas Day federal holiday will be observed Monday. Post offices will be closed Monday and only Priority Mail Express packages will be delivered. The Fairfield Ledger will be closed and no newspaper will be printed Monday.


 


New Year?s holiday


Fairfield city offices will be closed Jan. 1 to observe New Year?s Day.


Jefferson County offices will be closed Jan 1.
