IJBBA cattle show set

WASHINGTON, Iowa ? Washington County 4-H County Council will be sponsoring an IJBBA-sanctioned open cattle show April 28 at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

This event is open to youth of all ages up to 21. To exhibit, there is no requirements be a member of the IJBBA or a member of 4-H. However, members of the IJBBA will receive points.

Organizers say the open cattle show is a great opportunity for youth to compete against youth from other counties, work more with their cattle, gain experience and have fun.

Check-in will be from 8-9:30 a.m. The show will begin at 11 a.m.

Entry fee is $35. Preregistration is $30 if registered by Sunday. Preregistration guarantees a T-shirt for the exhibitor. Registration forms are available at Make checks payable to Washington County Extension Office, 2223 250th St., Washington, IA 52353.

Health papers are required on all animals. If intending to show in a breed division, registration papers are required.

Generators are recommended, but not required.

Supreme Champion will receive $250 and Reserve Champion will receive $150 for both market and breeding animals. All first- through third-place in the class will have cash awards.

In conjunction with the show, a pancake breakfast is planned from 7-10:30 a.m. in the lower level of Dallmeyer Hall on the fairgrounds.
