Input needed to determine future of rest areas

AMES ? The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking input about a draft plan outlining a path forward in managing rest areas throughout the state.

The draft plan, additional materials related to rest areas in Iowa, and opportunities to provide input are available at Comments will be accepted until September 2019.

Comments collected during this period will be used to create a final implementation plan for the future of rest areas in Iowa.

This draft plan and public input period is part of the Iowa D.O.T.?s Statewide Rest Area System planning study that has been ongoing since 2013. The Iowa D.O.T. has a responsibility to manage the transportation system and balance needs of the public with funding. As part of this responsibility, assets within the transportation system are regularly evaluated. This study satisfies that responsibility.
