Pekin community schools are closed Monday and Tuesday; Tuesday is a Professional Development Day for staff. Students return to class Wednesday.
Cardinal and Van Buren community schools are closed Monday. Classes resume Tuesday.
Fairfield City Hall and city offices are closed Monday, but will resume regular business hours on Tuesday.
Jefferson County Courthouse, county offices and state offices are closed Monday. Regular hours resume Tuesday.
The U.S. Postal Service is closed, and regular mail is not delivered on Labor Day.
Fairfield Public Library is closed Monday.
Roosevelt Community Recreation Center and the Roosevelt Aquatic Center is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.
Waste Management is closed Monday, and garbage pickup is delayed one day all week long. The routes normally picked up on Mondays will be picked up on Tuesdays; the normal Tuesday routes will be picked up on Wednesday, and so on.
Senior meal sites are closed Monday, and no meals will be served. The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has frozen or shelf-stable meals available for evenings, weekends and holidays. For information, call the site manager at 472-4403.
The Fairfield Ledger newspaper office is closed for Labor Day, and no paper will be published Monday.
