The 2018 Live on the Square Summer Concert Series is fast approaching, and this year the committee has lined up three nights of music for the residents of southeast Iowa to enjoy.
Saturday, the Jonas Magram Jazz Quartet will perform in Central Park. Magram will be joined by Bill Blackmore, Steve Hillis, Shawn Medeiros and Steve Jeffries. JMJQ?s music ranges from sultry Gershwin love songs to warm Bossa Novas to foot-stomping Ellington blues.
July 14, The King of the Tramps return to Fairfield with their foot-stompin?, hand-clappin? and rock ?n? roll party which has been called a cross between a gospel revival and a roadhouse throw down. This will be TKOTT?s last Midwest show before heading off for a series of dates across Germany.
Aug. 4, a new local trio, 3=One, will play. 3=One is a jazz trio with lively, good-time grooves as well as sensitive ballads. Fairfield?s Mike Cantafio on guitar, Shawn Medeiros on drums and George Foster on bass bring a wealth of onstage experience and formal training that inform their energetic performances.
The final Live on the Square concert will be Sept. 15 to put a wrap on the annual Kiwanis Kids? Day activities. Proving to be one of the most popular artists to perform over the last several years, Iowa rock?n?roll pioneer David Zollo beings his infectious songwriting and masterful keyboards back from a tour of Italy to play in Ron Prill Bandstand in Central Park.
All Live on the Square summer concerts are free.
