Lloyd R. Dille, 90, of Fort Lauderdale, FL., died June 6, 2018, at Holy Cross Hospital, Fort Lauderdale. He was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Birmingham, IA to Clyde and Gertrude Topping Dille.
Lloyd graduated from Birmingham High School, completed Chilocothe Business College, worked in the U.S. as well as Japan and Italy, and was drafted into the Marine Corps. He obtained a Master?s degree from George Washington University. He lived in New York City and New Jersey while teaching elementary school. After retirement he moved to East Hampton, NY, eventually relocating to Ft. Lauderdale.
Lloyd traveled to 49 of the 50 states in the U.S., and spent time in many other countries. His interests included gardening, cooking, playing bridge, music, theatre, and opera.
Lloyd is survived by his life partner Jay Kana of Ft. Lauderdale, a sister, Bette Countryman (Larry) and sister-in-law Bonnie Dille of Birmingham, six nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Kenneth Dille, and nephew Stephen Dille.
A private gravesite service at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham is planned at a future date. A memorial fund has been established for beautification of Maple Hill Cemetery and may be mailed to the family at 24901 135th Road, Birmingham, Iowa, 52535.
