?Boys and Their Toys? will visit Maasdam Barns from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The free event, which has become an annual tradition, features antique tractors and cars. A demonstration of hay being moved into a loft will occur at noon.
Maasdam Barns board member Leon Connelly helped organize the event. He said the owners of the antique tractors and cars usually stick around to answer questions about their vehicles and why they hold a special place in their heart. He mentioned that examining old tractors is a good way of learning about how the machines evolved over time.
?At first, tractors were intended to replace the horse,? he said. ?They were adapted to add power takeoff, used to run a brush cutter or running an elevator that moved grain into a corn crib.?
Kids will have fun on the pedal car obstacle course. Visitors will learn how to make their own jump rope at the rope-making device, and learn how to shell and grind corn into chicken feed. A hot dog lunch will be served, too. A free-will donation will be taken for the lunch.
