Morning Sun man charged in death of woman found in Lee County

MORNING SUN ? A man from Morning Sun has been charged in the death of a body found in Lee County on Sunday, Aug. 5.

Damion Hamann, 28, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death, a Class D felony, after a woman?s body was found on a gravel road in West Point. Hamann turned himself in to the Lee County Sheriff?s Office on Sunday.

The body was identified as Sadie Alvarado, 20, of Muscatine. The Lee County Sheriff?s Office was contacted at approximately 10:42 a.m. Sunday about her body found on a gravel road on 235th Ave. south of West Point.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the University of Iowa?s Decedent Care Unit.

The case still is under investigation.

This is a joint investigation by the Iowa Department of Public Safety?s Division of Criminal Investigation, Lee County Sheriff?s Office, Lee County Attorney?s Office and Lee County Medical Examiner?s Office.
