No.1 Marion tops No. 5 Center Point-Urbana

A big game factoring into the ?Where will Fairfield end up? Class 3A playoff equation was closer than many Trojans fans hoped Monday night, with No. 1 Marion defeating No. 5 Center Point-Urbana 53-50.

Pointers led 12-9 after one period, but the top ranked Indians rallied to take a 23-18 lead into the lockerroom, and then extended their advantage in the third by outscoring the vistors 17-13 to take a 40-31 difference into the final eight minutes. Although CPU charged back in the fourth, 19-13, they could not overcome the nine-point deficit and fell to 15-3 with their second loss to Marion.


Indians senior Chloe Rice led all scorers with 17 points on 5-8 shooting from the field and 7-8 from the foul line.
