PACKWOOD ? The Pilot Grove Savings Bank in Packwood was robbed Friday afternoon.
The robbery occurred at 1:13 p.m. according to a news release from the Jefferson County Attorney?s Office.
The perpetrator was described as a tall, slender white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He fled the bank going east on foot.
Vehicles from the Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office and Iowa State Patrol arrived at the bank that afternoon to conduct an investigation, which is still ongoing. Other agencies participating in the investigation are the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Fairfield Police Department, Wapello and Keokuk County Sheriff?s Offices.
Thus far, authorities have not released details about whether the perpetrator was armed or how much money was taken from the bank.
The Ledger contacted Pilot Grove Savings Bank today, but a representative from the company declined to comment on the case.
