Pekin  FCCLA STAR Event entries adance to state

PACKWOOD ? Pekin Community School District?s six entries in the District 10 Family, Career and Community Leaders of America ? Students Taking Action with Recognition Events contest are advancing to the state competition in late March.


The District 10 FCCLA STAR Events contest was held Jan. 26 at the Great Prairie Area Education Agency in Ottumwa.


Pekin?s results from the contest are:


Maci Gambell, National Programs in Action ? gold;


Faith Goudy and Delaney Harbison, Chapter Service Project Display ? gold;


Emilee Linder and Kylie Davis, Focus on Children ? gold;


Kelly Myers, Illustrated Talk ? gold; and


Kylie Noel, Leadership ? silver.


FCCLA promotes personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
