Pet grooming salon opens

OLLIE ? A pet grooming shop, Critter Salon, is opening in Ollie.

Brandy Scearcy-Tuecke is a professionally trained all-breed groomer for dogs and cats. She grew up in a grooming salon operated by her mother, Tammy Haile, and says that is where her love of animals comes from. Scearcy-Tuecke graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 2014 from the all-breed pet grooming/shop management program. She has been grooming professionally since then in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. She is currently working on her certified master groomer status.

Grooming is by appointments.


Field of Opportunities: Family-focused career block party set Sept. 6

OTTUMWA ? Field of Opportunities, a career oriented block party for families, will be 3:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 6 on the Indian Hills Community College North Campus soccer field in Ottumwa.

Job seekers, students, parents and community members are invited to explore multiple opportunities including employers, community resources, education, military and entrepreneurship opportunities. Team members from the IowaWORKS Center in Ottumwa will be available to assist with resumes and submit online applications.

In addition, a photographer will be taking profile photos to use on LinkedIn as well as family portraits. There also will be fun activities for children, games, interactive displays and food for purchase.

Field of Opportunities is a collaborative effort with IowaWORKS, Indian Hills Community College, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Ottumwa Economic Development, iJAG, and Ottumwa Job Corps.
