SunnyBrook, Aeron hosting blood drive


SunnyBrook Living Care Center and Aeron Lifestyle will host a community blood drive 1-4 p.m. April 12 in SunnyBrook?s conference room.


Donors who last gave blood on or before Feb. 15 are eligible to give at this drive.

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age, although a 16-year-old with a completed parental permission form also is eligible to donate. The form is available through www.bloodcenter.org. Donors weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. is required to donate. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure can be accepted as eligible donors. For information about eligibility, call the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at 800-747-5401.


Blood center personnel say blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.


Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to more than 90 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin. It is the exclusive provider to Jefferson County Health Center.
