Ronald LeRoy Scott was born in Batavia, IA on October 13, 1947 to Bill and Retta Alexander Scott. After graduating from Cardinal High School in 1965, Ronnie held various jobs. Some of his first jobs were working for people in Batavia, like helping William (Billy) Whitmore deliver coal, collect garbage and mow country cemeteries. For several years Ronnie enjoyed helping Raleigh Creek run his steam engine. Raleigh and Ronnie would show the steam engine at the Old Thrasher?s Reunion in Mount Pleasant, IA where they camped and ran the old steam engine train giving people rides. Ronnie spent some time selling insurance, worked at Harper Brush for a while and later as a shipping clerk at Louden Machinery Company in Fairfield, IA. He was employed there until a back injury forced him to retire. Ronnie cared for his parents Bill and Retta until their passing. He was an active member of the Batavia Gospel Lighthouse Church for several years. He shared his musical talents in the choir and participated on their television broadcasts by singing and playing his saxophone. In his later years Ronnie enjoyed watching Jimmy Swagert church services on TV. He spent much of his time keeping in contact with friends on his computer through Facebook.

Ronnie leaves behind his beloved dog ?Buddy? and many friends. A special thank you to Kerrie Steen and all of Ronnie?s care givers who allowed him to remain independent in his home for many years.
