ServSafe, the national certification program for food service managers and employees, will be held May 15 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds? Cambridge Learning Center.
Class begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m., with testing for certification following the class. A photo ID is required to take the certification exam.
Topics include providing safe food, contamination and food allergens, ?The Safe Food Handler,? Flow of Food: Purchasing, Receiving, Storage,? ?Flow of Food: Preparation and Service,? cleaning and sanitizing, pest management, facilities and equipment, food safety management systems.
The cost of the course is $150 and includes the class time, a manual, and the national certification exam.
Registration is required by April 24.
Anyone interested in preparing and serving safe food is welcome to attend. The course is required currently by some companies including restaurants, hospitals, schools, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
