Seventh graders sweep Ottumwa, split with SEC foes

No matter what day of the week the Fairfield seventh grade girls? basketball team plays, they compete if not win.


Saturday Feb. 10 the squad went 3-0 with the ?A?, ?B? and ?C? teams each beating Ottumwa.


The ?A? score was 52-14 with Maggie Rayburn collecting 12 points and 16 points for a double-double to go with her two steals. Macy Rayburn also had 12 points, but seven boards. Other stat lines were: Maddy Greiner eight points, three rebounds and two steals; Coty Engle six points, six rebounds and four steals; Ashlyn Lisk six points, five rebounds and two steals; Emersyn Manley six points and four rebounds; and Brooke Miller four points, one rebound and one steal.


Fairfield?s ?B? teamers were nearly as dominant in their defeat of the Bulldogs 31-8.


The well balanced stat lines were: Sara Kretz eight points, four rebounds and a steal; Myah Twohill six points and four rebounds; Morgan Amendt six points, one rebound and five steals; Sydney Wells four points and three rebounds; Emily Gerleman two points, five rebounds and a steal; Kiara Bickman three points, four rebounds and three steals; Dejanae Early two points, three rebounds and two steals.


The Trojan ?C? team only plays two quarters because of small rosters, but still won 10-8 with Dejanae Early scoring eight points, grabbing four rebounds and making two steals. Other stat lines were: Emma Phillips two points and a steal; Stephanie Hook had two rebounds and Sydney Wells had a rebound.


 


Monday the ?B? team beat Fort Madison 26-14 with the following stat lines: Emily Gerleman six points, three rebounds and four steals; Myah Twohill four points and five steals; Kiara Bickman four points and four rebounds; Sydney Wells four points; Dejanae Early four points and two steals; Emersyn Manley two points and three rebounds; Kate Pettit two points; Morgan Amendt four rebounds and three steals; and Sara Kretz had two rebounds.


The ?A? team fell to the Bloodhounds 37-25, snapping their five-game winning streak.


Maddy Greiner had eight points, three rebounds and three steals; Macy Rayburn seven points, five rebounds and two steals; Maggie Rayburn six points, seven rebounds and two steals; Coty Engle two points, seven rebounds and a steal; Ashlyn Lisk two points, three rebounds and a steal; Emersyn Manley had five boards; and Brooke Miller had three rebounds.


 


Tuesday the ?B? team won again, this time against Mt. Pleasant 21-16.


The mini Trojan contributors were: Emily German six points, four rebounds and four steals; Dejanae Early had six points and five rebounds; Kiara Bickman two points and seven rebounds; Sara Kretz two points and three rebounds; Morgan Amendt two points and two rebounds; Brooke Miller two points and a steal; Emersyn Manley one point and one rebound; and Sydney Wells three rebounds and a steal.


The ?A? team fell for the second time in two days, but had a well balanced stat sheet: Maddy Greiner eight points, five rebounds and two steals; Macy Rayburn seven points, seven rebounds and a steal; Maggie Rayburn two points, eight rebounds and a steal; Brooke Miller two points, one rebound and a steal; Coty Engle three rebounds and two steals; Ashlyn Lisk three rebounds and two steals; Emersyn Manley three rebounds.
