Orders are due no later than Friday for the SHARE Iowa Inc. food packages available in December.
Orders can be placed locally by calling the Sieda Community Action office at 472-6140 or Claudia Greenig at 472-3569.
Pickup will be at 8 a.m. Dec. 16 at the Fairfield Eagles Club.
Several different packages are available; participants can purchase one or more in any combination.
The $28 Best Value Package includes: 1-pound chicken breast; 2-pound cocktail sausages; 1-pound 80 percent lean ground beef; 1.3-pound Ripple Creek ham steak; 16-ounce frozen vegetable; potatoes, sweet potatoes, celery, carrots, apples and oranges.
The $14.50 Grocery Package includes: 16-ounce frozen vegetable; potatoes, sweet potatoes, celery, carrots, apples and oranges.
The $14.50 Meat-Only Package includes: 1-pound chicken breast; 2-pound cocktail sausages; 1-pound 80 percent lean ground beef; 1.3-pound Ripple Creek ham steak.
The $33 Christmas Dinner includes: 8-pound spiral ham; 16-ounce frozen broccoli cuts; two 15-ounce cans of corn; 16.5-ounce baking mix; 6-ounce stuffing; two 3-ounce cherry gelatin; 8-inch apple pie; potatoes, sweet potatoes, celery, carrots, apples and oranges.
The $22.50 Steak Special includes: six 8-ounce individually wrapped, tenderized sirloin strip steaks.
The $25 Shrimp Special includes: 2-pounds raw, breaded, fantail shrimp; 11 shrimp skewers/raw, peeled and deveined.
The $30 Beef Brisket Package includes: four 2-pound packages of fully cooked, smoked, slices beef brisket.
Participants who order one of the main food packages also have the option to order ?choice? items.
The choice items for December are:
? A 3.5-pound boneless pork loin for $12.
? A Shellsburg Wisconsin Cheese cheese and sausage gift box for $19. It includes: 8-ounces each of Colby Jack, sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack, 7-ounces regular summer sausage; 7-ounces beef summer sausage; and 10-ounces Brewster House white sharp spreadable cheese.
? Five-pounds of fully cooked breaded chicken chunks for $13.
? A dessert combo for $13.50. It includes a 3.75-pound bag of chocolate chip cookie dough that makes eight dozen cookies, and an 8-inch chocolate cream pie.
Food packages are subject to changes.
SHARE Iowa Inc. is a nonprofit food buying group that offers good, nutritious products at a reduced cost through a volunteer-run, community-based distribution system.
Everyone is welcome to participate; there are no membership fees and no income guidelines. But because part of the focus of SHARE is to promote volunteer service, participants are encouraged to spend some time volunteering with an activity of their choice to help make their community a better place.
