Sierra Club hosting discussion on local food system

The Southeast Iowa Sierra Club and the Sustainable Living Coalition are hosting a potluck and community discussion at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at The Eco Barn at the S.E.E.D. Center.

Organizers say the event will be ?an evening of inspiration, great food, music and community good news.?

Francis Thicke is scheduled to speak on creating a local food system that regenerates soil, sequesters carbon, increases landscape biodiversity, improves water quality, and builds a vibrant local economy. Thicke is owner and operator of Radiance Dairy, an 80-cow, certified organic dairy in Fairfield. He is an organic farmer, soil scientist, wind-energy proponent, and former employee of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The S.E.E.D. Center is just south of Abundance EcoVillage.
