Stockport celebrating BBQ Days

STOCKPORT -- The Stockport Lions Club will host its annual BBQ Days celebration, with events sponsored by the club and other Stockport organizations, throughout the Labor Day weekend.

Activities will get underway at 6 p.m. today with a co-ed softball tournament that will continue through Sunday at the Stockport Ball Diamond. For details, call Megan Snyder at 919-5932.

Friday?s event is a truck pull at the Saddle Club Park. Weigh-in is at 6:30 p.m., with the competition starting at 7 p.m. For information, call Jeff Rubey at 919-4494.

Saturday kicks off with a ?Hog the Road? walk/run, sponsored by Stockport Christian Church. Registration is at 6:30 a.m. at the church, with the event starting at 7 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the church?s youth group.

Highlights of the day include: games all day in Stockport City Park; Little Stars contest at 9:30 a.m.; the parade, with the theme ?Stronger Together,? at 10:30 a.m.; Bestest Doggie contest at 11:30 a.m.; the Lions Snack Shack opening at 11 a.m.; lunch at the American Legion Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; registration and weigh-in for the tractor pull is 11:30 a.m., with the pull starting at 12:30 p.m., at the Stockport Saddle Park, followed by Great Rivers Pullers and side-by-side pulls; registration for a kids? pedal-tractor pull is at 12:30 p.m., with the contest starting at 1 p.m. on Main Street.
