A vehicle was reported stolen Monday afternoon in Fairfield, and was recovered later that night by Fairfield police officers.
According to the Jefferson County Law Center?s police log, a 2009 Chevy Malibu was reported missing at 12:40 p.m. The owner left it on the east side of the square, and told police it must have been stolen after 10:30 a.m. that morning.
A little more than six hours later, police located the vehicle near the intersection of North Main Street and West Hempstead Avenue. The vehicle was towed to the police department?s impound lot.
Police Lt. Colin Smith said his department is trying to get in touch with the vehicle?s owner. Police would like to search the vehicle for evidence of who stole it.
