OTTUMWA ? The American Gothic Performing Arts Festival will host its sixth annual Spring Trivia Night March 23 at Hotel Ottumwa to benefit the organization?s upcoming summer festival.
Trivia Night committee members say it?s going to be an exciting evening filled with drinks, food, music and a lot of thinking. Organizers promise a varied lineup of categories including song lyrics, sports, current events and a special nod to National Chip and Dip Day. There also will be a new audio round.
?We take our trivia very seriously and have been researching questions for weeks,? says a Donna Bohlmann, trivia committee chair.
Teams of 10 people each will compete in 10 rounds of general knowledge trivia with 10 questions per round. Up to 10 ?mulligans? can be purchased at the door for $2 each. Teams will be allowed to use one mulligan per round for especially tricky questions.
Teams also can purchase up to two ?double-points? rounds for $20 each. Teams can choose which rounds to play for double points at the beginning of play based on the category titles they receive upon checking in to the event.
Prizes will be awarded to the top-scoring teams and each team will have the opportunity to enter a 50/50 cash raffle during specified rounds. Teams can enter the cash raffle for $10 per person. The winning table will split the cash pot with American Gothic Performing Arts Festival at the end of the round.
Competitors can register as a team of 10 or as individuals. Individual competitors will join other individual competitors to create their team of 10. The cost is $25 for single tickets or $250 for a table or team of 10 registering together.
The event ticket includes complimentary beer, wine, soda, pizza and snacks while they last beginning at 7 p.m. Trivia competition begins promptly at 7:30 p.m.
