Trojan girls tennis smashes Blue Demons in Albia

The Fairfield girls? tennis team traveled to Albia Monday night to face the Blue Demons, but the only deviish play came from the Trojans who rode out of town with a 9-0 non-conference win.


8-0 victories for the Fairfield came from Anatta Charoenkul defeating Sydney Flattery, Yana Gaskell beating Sarah Herz, Hermela Gebremariam topping Mollie Solinger and Penelope Higdon shutting out Bella Wilson. Cami Schaefer and Anna Beasley hardly struggled in their matches, winning 8-1 over Kennedy Schroeder and Stacie Etcher, respectively.


Doubles


Charoenkul and Gebremariam combined for an 8-2 victory over Flattery/Herz, while Gaskell/Schaefer and Beasley/Higdon won their partnered matches 8-0, over Schroeder/Solinger and Etcher/Wilson, respectively.


 


Junior varsity


Fairfield beat the Blue Demons in a much more competitive contest 4-2.


Fairfield won the first four matches: Ashley Pool/Abby Schaefer over Jenna Francis/Marin Throckmorton 4-2, Abbey Gridley/Destiny Gridley over Alex Beard/Abbie Martin 4-3, Lauren Kraemer/Cahrina Chang over Brittnee Mckinney/Sarah Wildt 4-2 and Kelly Petersen/Claire Pettit over Millie Maddy/Jenna Francis 4-3.


Albia won the final two matches: Marin/ ThrockmortonAlex Beard over Emily Hostetter/McKayla Taylor 4-0 and Abbie Martin/Sarah Wildt over Cahrina Chang/Destiny Gridley 4-3.


Next for the Trojans is a road trip to Fort Madison today at 4:30 p.m.
