The Fairfield cross country teams represented Trojan Nation well at the Riverview Country Club where the Van Buren Invite was held Tuesday evening.
The Trojans got all five runners in the top 10 of the AA race and needed every one of those slots to finish first over Davis County, 35-36.
Alex Forrest was the top Fairfield runner with a fourth place time of 17:51, Dalton Rippey finished sixth in 18:03, Mark Diers was seventh in 18:09, Dylan Harvey was eighth in 18:20 and Kaidyn Mickels finished 10th in 18:30.
?We had a good start as a team with Dalton, Harvey, Alex and myself running as a four pack,? explained Trojan Mark Diers.
?For the next 2 miles, Dalton, Alex and I ran the race together and were 6-7-8,? added Diers. ?At the end, Alex broke away and caught the fourth place guy. I?m proud of our team winning our second meet of the season and I?m excited for our home meet Thursday.?
Van Buren?s Jonah Heckenberg and Clay Neeley were the only two local top-10 finishers in the A race, finishing fourth and 10th overall, respectively, with times of 18:05 and 19:07.
The Warriors finished second to Danville-New London and Cardinal finished sixth.
FHS senior Ashley Bloomquist continued her dominance over her corner of the state, winning the AA race in a time of 20:15 with Delaney Breen next in sixth place with a time of 23:39.
Hailey Pohren-Gevock came in 14th in 25:36, Mahayla Mellot 15th in 25:38, Destiny Gridley 19th in 26:31, Claire Epperson 20th in 28:14, Hailey Atwood 21st in 28:48, Grace Sobaski in 31:28 and Lilly Huff 27th in 31:58.
The Warriors placed four in the top 10 with Faith Neeley, Audrey Smith and Kylee Bass finishing 5-6-7 with times of 22:25, 22:48 and 23:18, respectively.
Codi Welch came in 10th with a time of 23:51 to help Van Buren secure second place.
