Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals
Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.
The menu for the coming week is:
Monday -- scalloped chicken, brown-sugar glazed carrots, mixed green lettuce salad with dressing, peaches and bananas.
Tuesday -- beef patty, wheat hamburger bun, O'Brien potatoes, green peas, angel food cake, strawberries.
Wednesday -- closed for July Fourth. No meal served.
Thursday -- braised liver and onions, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, lima beans, mandarin oranges, rice crispy treat.
Friday -- baked chicken, sweet potatoes, crispy creamy spinach, pineapple crisp.
Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.
For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.
Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.
Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.
Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Fairfield school free summer meals
Fairfield Community School District is offering a free summer lunch program to any child age 18 and younger.
The menu includes:
Monday ? cheesey Trojan bread with marinara, peaches, milk.
Tuesday ? corn dog, baked beans, watermelon, milk.
Wednesday ? July Fourth; no meal served.
Thursday ? Italian grilled chicken on a bun, corn, fresh fruit, milk.
July 6 ? meatball sub on a bun, green beans, applesauce, milk.
Any child through age 18 can have a free, healthy lunch; a child does not have to qualify for free lunches during the school year to eat the free summer lunches.
Adults over 18 can purchase a meal for $3.50, but children are served lunch first.
Lunch is served:
? 11:15-11:45 a.m. at the Fairfield Public Library;
? 11:30 a.m. to noon at Pence Elementary School;
? noon to 12:30 p.m. at Maharishi School?s Kids Explore Summer Camp; and
? 12:05-12:35 p.m. at the Roosevelt Community Recreation Center.
Children do not have to eat lunch at the same location each day.
The Fairfield school district?s free summer lunch program continues through Aug. 24.
The free local lunches are part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture?s nationwide Summer Food Service Program.
