Van Buren boys beat Fort Madison?s Holy Trinity Catholic Tuesday night 63-44, outscoring the Crusaders in three of the four periods to collect an easy home victory.
The Warriors jumped out to an early 15-8 lead, and although they were outscored 13-11 in a tightly contested second period, they still held a five point lead at the midway point.
The second half went just as well for Van Buren, who extended their lead to double digits with a 17-10 advantage in the third, giving them a 43-31 advantage headed into the final eight minutes. The Warriors outscored the Crusaders 20-13 in the fourth, giving them a 19 point victory in front of the home crowd in Keosauqua.
The Warriors will travel to New London with the girls? team Friday and play in the second game of the girls/boys doubleheader versus their SEISC rival Tigers.
