A group has planned a rally for workers? rights Monday afternoon in Fairfield.
The event is the Southeast Iowa Workers? Unity Rally, and will be from 1-3 p.m. that day in Central Park. The organizers stated in a press release that the workers? unity rally is an opportunity to show solidarity with workers throughout southeast Iowa. Attendees will learn about resources available to workers and how to assert their rights in a right-to-work state.
Guest speakers include Annalisa Clifford Miller from IowaWINS (Iowa Welcomes Immigrant Neighbors), State Rep. Phil Miller of House District 82, United Automobile Workers Local 74 president Chris Laursen, University of Iowa Labor Center historian John McKerley, and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang. The band Toast will provide entertainment.
