The Sieda Jefferson County Area Christmas Project 2018 donation deadline has been extended to Dec. 20.
Carol Long, organizer of the project, said all of the mitten tree wish lists have been “adopted” this year, but that new children are coming into the project each day.
“This community has been so generous for these families in need each year,” Long said. “But each year, we have additional children who qualify after the initial intake dates. We are hoping to make it possible for those children to also see gifts under the tree.
“People can donate gifts to a child of any age, and we’ll see that they go to the appropriate age,” continued Long. “Or they can donate monetarily, and we will do the shopping.”
Donations do not have to be toys, according to Long. She said wish lists include requests for clothing, pajamas, outerwear, boots and snow pants, plus teens ask for personal hygiene products and families can use basic necessities, such as tissue products and warm blankets.
All donations can be taken to the Sieda Community Action Center at 201 S. 23rd St., in Fairfield. Checks, made payable to Sieda Community Action, with “Jefferson County Area Christmas Project” in the memo line, can be mailed to that same address.
