The Fairfield Public Library will have its Free Film Friday this week at the library.
This month’s film is a documentary. It is based on James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscript, “Remember This House.” Narrated by an actor, the film explores the history of racism in the United States through Baldwin’s reminiscences of civil rights leaders Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr., as well as his personal observations of American history.
The film was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 89th Academy Awards and won the BAFTA Award for Best Documentary.
The film is rated PG-13. Its run time is one hour and 33 minutes.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Friday, and the film begins at 7:30 p.m. Organizers ask viewers to arrive early as seating is limited. A $1 donation for organic popcorn helps renew the library’s movie licenses.
