MENUS: Congregate meals; Fairfield school meals, March 18-22, 2019

Fairfield congregate meals

Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Community Center.

The menu for the coming week is:

Monday — beef meatball, brown gravy, scalloped potatoes, creamed peas, apricot halves.

Tuesday — turkey tetrazzini, green bean almandine, tomato spoon salad, mandarin oranges and bananas.

Wednesday — baked chicken breast, oven-browned potatoes, Normandy vegetable blend, blushing peaches.

Thursday — hearty beef vegetable soup, spinach-mandarin orange salad, dices pears, chocolate chip bar.

Friday — roast pork loin in gravy, candied sweet potatoes, braised red cabbage, lime banana gelatin. Dine-in alternative: potato-crusted fish fillet.

Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. Reservations can be made either at the community center or by calling 472-4403.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Community Center.

Fairfield school meals

The Fairfield Community School District has announced the menu for the coming week.

Elementary schools:

Monday — breakfast: cereal bar with string cheese. Lunch: cheesy Trojan bread with marinara, California blend vegetables, peaches.

Tuesday — breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: hot dog on a bun, French fries, carrot sticks, diced apricots.

Wednesday — no school.

Thursday — no school.

Friday — no school.

Milk, juice and fruit is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.

Middle school:

Monday — breakfast: cereal bar with string cheese. Lunch: cheesy Trojan bread with marinara or burrito with salsa, California blend vegetables, peaches.

Tuesday — breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: hot dog on a bun or chili dog on a bun, French fries, apricots.

Wednesday — no school.

Thursday — no school.

Friday — no school.

Milk, juice and fruit are served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. A fresh garden bar, with fresh fruits and vegetables, is served with lunch. An alternate meal of a sack lunch is available by request in the school office daily.

High school:

Monday — breakfast: breakfast bun. Lunch: cheese-filled breadsticks with marinara or nacho lil’ bites, green beans, peaches.

Tuesday — breakfast: biscuit and gravy. Lunch: hot dog on a bun or chili dog on a bun, French fries, fancy pears.

Wednesday — no school.

Thursday — no school.

Friday — no school.

Milk, juice, fruit and a choice of mini doughnuts, Pop Tarts, breakfast bar or breakfast bread is served with breakfast. Milk is served with lunch. Offered daily for lunch is a choice of: fruit and yogurt parfait with granola, sub sandwich, specialty salad, nachos-to-go or Uncrustable PBJ. A fresh garden bar, with romaine salad with a choice of dressings, fresh vegetables and fresh fruit, is available for lunch.
